Event Horizon [1997]

Plot: In the year 2047 a group of astronauts are sent to investigate and salvage the long lost starship "Event Horizon". The ship disappeared mysteriously 7 years before on its maiden voyage and with its return comes even more mystery as the crew of the "Lewis and Clark" discover the real truth behind its disappearance and something even more terrifying.

This movie definitely had me going from beginning to end, a movie way ahead of it time!

It starts off slow but humorous as any good horror/thriller film should, but about ten minutes into the movie and you start to pick up the beautiful visuals of the event horizon. About a quarter into the movie and you start to see the horror/gore parts of the movie which isn't for all but if you can stomach it then it’s definitely a great movie to watch.

The visuals and plot is way ahead of it time (1997) especially watched on Blu-Ray you can see the quality of work that they put in to make everything look so realistic and horrific at times. The sound quality is amazing as well as from time to time they cut into some horrific/gory scenes with amazing audio which will scare you until the next scene.

The plot unfolds its self during the movie and in a progressive way in which the director is trying to explain to you detail by detail of what happened during this whole movie. By the end of this horror/thriller/gore film there seem to be no holes in the storyline, nothing to leave you wondering "what the hell happened in this movie?". The actors were the upside to this film as at some points of the movie it seemed to be a bit of a weird plot but the actors/actresses played the parts so well that the movie continued flowing well within any weird scenes.

Overall this is a must watch for horror/thriller fanatics or even the occasional horror film watcher.

The Resident [2011]

Plot: Every year, three million single women in America move into an apartment for the first time. They do not know who lived in the apartment before them, they do not know their landlords, and they dont bother to change the locks. This is the story of one such woman. After separating from her husband, pretty young doctor Juliet Dermer moves to Brooklyn, settling into a new life in a stunning and spacious loft apartment that seems too good to be true. It is...Mysterious occurrences lead her to suspect that she is not alone in her home and quickly her fears become all too real

So I just finished watching "The Resident" and I'm going to say what a waste of my time!

It started off pretty good and with a couple of good actors/actresses it seems like something great is going to come out of this - Well what a big fucking let down. Not only did this movie have the potential to be a good thriller/horror film but it also had the potential to make a lot of money and win Oscars.

Anyways the reveal of the plot was way to early and the plot itself seems meaningless, seems like no one put any thought into this script. The acting was great from both Hilary Swank & Jeffrey Dean Morgan, you also see Christopher Lee in a couple of scenes which IMO he played great as usual. The rest of the movie was a bore and nothing but boredom comes to mind if I start to think back on what I just watched. I can see why they skipped the shame of a theater showing and went directly to DVD/Blu-Ray.

Basically what I'm saying is skip this movie in its entirety!

Cleaner [2007]

PLOT: A single father and former cop Tom Cutler has an unusual occupation: he owns and operates a crime scene clean up company, and performs much of the duties himself. When he is called in to sterilize a wealthy suburban residence after a brutal shooting, Cutler is shocked to learn he may have unknowingly erased crucial evidence, and become entangled in a dirty criminal cover-up.

Let me start off by saying this is a good movie overall - Yes a bit slow at the start but it kept me wanting to know more even though I figured out the plot early in the movie, it was still pretty interesting and felt like I needed to see more.

This movie is not one to surprise you or even throw you back at the end of the movie like WTF happened, yes it's been done before and probably in the same manner but still with all the great actors/actresses in the movie they will keep you entertained and wanting to watch more.

Don't get me wrong this movie is by far a great thriller/crime film but it is a good one and one that you will enjoy watching and not feel like it was a waste of your time. But if you are looking for action this movie lacks it, this is not a thriller/crime/action film but more of a relaxed thriller/crime movie.

The Ghost Writer [2010]

PLOT: A ghostwriter hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy.

Let me start with - Thriller/Suspense where were you in this movie?

It seemed pretty obvious from the beginning of this movie that it was going to be boring, I mean it started off pretty slow and had maybe one or two scenes which would keep you at the edge of your feet. Everything was pretty much predictable and the only thing that was out of the ordinary and suspenseful was the ending, which I will gladly admit I did not see coming.

No I didn't want to see more blood/terror in the movie but I did want to see more of a suspense and thriller from it, more along the lines of some more twists and turns like the ending of the movie. The movie had a pretty slow start and it continued until about 3/4 of the movie, you can easily argue that the last quarter of the movie was the whole movie, well at least the good parts of the movie.

Overall I was not impressed or felt like it was good use of my time nor would I recommend anyone to waste their time watching this film.
